Erik Kilpatrick, DirectorErik Kilpatrick is a St. Louis native raised in Harlem where he worked with the Harlem Youth Action (HAR-YOU-ACT) a community based organization program for helping youth in the community through the Arts, the program taught in many areas of cultural arts, acting, music, dance and visual arts. It was through this program as a child that Kilpatrick met his mentors in acting, Minny Gentry, Vinnette Carroll, Rick Edelstein and NEC's Director Edmund Cambridge. For over 30 years, Erik has enjoyed success on stage, in television and film as an actor and director. Mr. Kilpatrick has performed in plays such as The Gospel At Colonus, Robert Johnson: The Trick Devil, Sty of the Blind Pig, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, The Piano Lesson, Jitney, A Soilder's Play, The Meeting, Purlie, Flyin' West, Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death and I Am A Man to name a few. Mr. Kilpatrick is best known for his role as Curtis Johnson, a regular on the hit TV series, The White Shadow. Some of his favorite television and film performances were in NYPD Blue, The Color of Friendship (Disney), Hoodlum, New Jack City and Heat Wave. He is also writer, producer and director of the documentary, Homer G. Phillips, The Lost Leader. |
